Ingest to Spotsheet
Privacy Policy
Effective 30 June 2026. This policy covers the "Ingest to Spotsheet" browser extension.
Ingest to Spotsheet lets a sound editor capture spotting notes they select on a web page and add them, as timecoded cues, to their own Spotsheet project at spotsheetpost.com. Capturing selected notes into Spotsheet is the extension's only function. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with data.
What the extension handles
- Text you select. Only when you click the extension's toolbar button does it read the text you have highlighted on the current page. That text is sent to your own Spotsheet project as cues. The extension does not read pages in the background, does not read pages you have not acted on, and does not keep a copy of the selection after it is sent.
- Your Spotsheet sign-in. The extension reuses the Spotsheet session you already have in your browser. It caches your Spotsheet session token in the browser's local extension storage so you do not have to sign in again each time you open the popup. This token stays on your device and is used only to authenticate to your own Spotsheet account.
- Light interface state. Small preferences, such as the last project you chose, are stored locally so the popup remembers them. This never leaves your device.
Where your data goes
The captured cues go to spotsheetpost.com, which is your own Spotsheet account. That is the only destination the extension sends data to. The extension does not send your notes or any other data to us as a separate party, to advertisers, to analytics services, or to any other third party.
What the extension does not do
- It does not sell, rent, or transfer your data to anyone.
- It does not track your browsing, run analytics, or serve ads.
- It does not run any artificial intelligence on a server. The note parser runs locally in your browser.
- If you use the optional "bring your own LLM" step, the extension only copies a prompt to your clipboard. You choose whether to paste it into your own ChatGPT, Claude, or other assistant. The extension itself sends nothing to any AI service; anything you paste into a third-party assistant is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy.
Permissions and why they exist
- activeTab and scripting: to read the text you have selected on the current tab, only when you click the toolbar button.
- Access to spotsheetpost.com: to save cues to your Spotsheet project, read your project list, and reuse your existing Spotsheet login.
- storage: to keep your session token and interface preferences on your device so you stay signed in.
Retention and deletion
The extension keeps nothing on a server of its own. The cues you create live in your Spotsheet project, which you control and can edit or delete inside Spotsheet. The token and preferences cached on your device are cleared when you sign out of Spotsheet or remove the extension.
External resources
The popup loads a web font from Google Fonts for its typography. As with any site that uses Google Fonts, that request discloses your IP address to Google. No other external services are contacted.
